Our Philosophy

At Montessori School (Preschool) of San Dimas we believe in keeping with the philosophies and traditions created by Dr. Maria Montessori. Born in 1870 and the first woman in Italy to receive a Medical degree, Dr. Montessori believed that each child was born with unique potential waiting to be revealed; contradicting the popular belief that each child was a "blank slate" waiting to be written on. In accordance with her beliefs we:
  • ~Prepare the most natural and life-supporting environments for the child
  • ~Observe the child living freely in this environment
  • ~Continually adapt the environment in order that the child may fulfill his or her greatest potential, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
